Disease relevance of Retinal Artery Occlusion

• PURPOSE: To demonstrate retinal arterial wall plaques (RAWPs) in patients with Susac syndrome, a disorder that consists of the triad of branch retinal artery occlusion, encephalopathy, and hearing loss [1].
• SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We studied 27 patients with amaurosis fugax (AFX), branch retinal artery occlusion (BRAO), central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) and anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (AION) [2].
• This case is unusual, because the simultaneous development of branch retinal artery occlusion and anterior ischemic optic neuropathy has, to our knowledge, not been reported in WG [3].
