Disease relevance of DCR

  • The triplication of a region of chromosome 21 around D21S55 in 21q22.2-22.3 has been involved in the main features of Down syndrome including mental retardation (Down syndrome chromosome region: DCR) [1].
  • The introduction of a closed loop of suture material through the Jones lacrimal tube, the DCR opening, and the nose at the time of surgery, facilitates the management of early postoperative complications in conjunctivo-dacrocystorhinostomy [2].
  • A significant number of patients continued to have symptoms in spite of a patent fistula (54% for Ext-DCR and 39% for ENL-DCR) [3].

Psychiatry related information on DCR

  • METHOD: Comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments were undertaken on the whole population (ascertained as far as is possible) of people with learning disabilities aged 65 years and over living in Leicestershire, UK (N = 134), in order to ascertain rates of DCR defined dementia, and associated factors [4].
  • A total of 20 social phobics according to ICD-10 DCR criteria were assessed with the Schedule for Clinical Assessment in Neuropsychiatry and the International Personality Disorder Examination [5].

High impact information on DCR

  • CONCLUSIONS: The EXT-DCR, when compared with ENL-DCR, seems to provide superior operation results in primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction [6].
  • 3.6-Mb genomic and YAC physical map of the Down syndrome chromosome region on chromosome 21 [7].
  • Micronucleated urothelial cells (MNC) were also scored on Giemsa-stained routine cytological smears and were found not to correlate with DNA damage or DCR [8].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of DCR

  • OBJECTIVE AND DESIGN: The introduction of endonasal laser dacryocystorhinostomy (ENL-DCR) in the early 1990s showed great promise of changing dacryocystorhinostomy into an elegant, minimally invasive procedure from the traditional external dacryocystorhinostomy (EXT-DCR) [6].
  • During a planned DCR the sac was opened before the osteotomy, and found to contain a plug which caused the obstruction [9].
  • Five patients exhibited positive delayed cutaneous skin test reactivity (DCR) to autologous irradiated tumor cells prior to immunization, whereas 8 of 13 converted from skin test negative to positive [10].
