In this subsequent study, again using RAW 264.7 murine macrophages and COS-1 cells, we demonstrate that hnRNP-A/B and hnRNP-U proteins serve antagonistic transcriptional regulatory functions for OPN expression in the setting of LPS-stimulated NO synthesis [1].
Homozygous mutant cell lines isolated from preimplantation blastocysts expressed hnRNP U transcripts at levels 2 to 5 times lower than wild-type cells, suggesting that nearly wild-type levels of hnRNP U are required for embryonic development [2].
Thus, short-term administration of a diet rich in SAFA suppresses circulating leptin levels without altering the adipose tissue ob gene expression [3].

Physical interactions of Hnrpu

Subsequently, hnRNP-U binds to the same site to further augment OPN promoter activation [1].
