Disease relevance of VAULTRC2

  • METHODS: AIDS-KS patients were recruited consecutively at the largest AIDS reference hospital in Sao Paulo. Fragments (420 bp) of the VR1 and VR2 regions of KSHV open reading frame (ORF) K1 were amplified by nested PCR and sequenced directly [1].
  • Two hundred eighty-one sporadic Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B isolates, collected through active laboratory-based surveillance, were selected to be analyzed by PorA variable region (VR) typing to determine the prevalence of PorA types in the United States. A substantial number of distinct VR types were identified, 31 in VR1 and 41 in VR2 [2].
  • EIA antigens were the meningococcal P1.7,16 protein, produced in Bacillus subtilis, and peptides covering its VR1 (P1.7 region) and VR2 (P1.16 region) inserted into a bacterial penicillinase protein [3].

Psychiatry related information on VAULTRC2

  • The reinforcement schedule associated with earning access to sedentary activities was held at variable ratio 2 (VR2) while the food reinforcement schedule was set at VR2 in the first trial of the choice task and doubled across the four subsequent trials from VR4 to VR32 [4].

High impact information on VAULTRC2

  • However, in a yeast three-hybrid screen the association of hvg1, hvg2, and hvg4 with TEP1 was demonstrated [5].
  • Analysis of the pattern of nucleotide substitution among alleles at this locus supported the hypothesis that natural selection has acted to enhance amino acid diversity in the two hypervariable regions (VR1 and VR2) of the extracellular portion of the K1 protein [6].
  • The demonstration that the immunodominant antibody response was specifically for the VR2 P1.4 epitope of the PorA protein supports the public health decision to use a strain-specific vaccine for the control of New Zealand's epidemic of meningococcal disease [7].

Other interactions of VAULTRC2

  • A phylogenetic analysis of 125 complete K1 sequences revealed two major clades, designated A/C and B. There was strong evidence against recombination between VR1 and VR2 among alleles belonging to different clades, and little support for frequent recombination within clades [6].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of VAULTRC2

  • Cross-reactivity, measured by a fourfold increase in SBA after vaccination, against these strains ranged from 23 to 92% depending on the subtype of the tested strain and was directed against both VR1 and VR2 [8].
  • In the immunoblotting method, three meningococcal reference strains were used; they expressed either the P1.7,16 protein, or only its VR1 or VR2 epitopes in their class 1 proteins [3].
