Disease relevance of PSG2

Psychiatry related information on PSG2

  • PSG1 was representative of PSGtot and similar to PSG2 only in those patients with rapid eye movement (REM) phase sleep in the first part of the night [2].

High impact information on PSG2

  • We have developed a novel anti-sulfotyrosine monoclonal antibody (called PSG2) that binds with high affinity and exquisite specificity to sulfotyrosine residues in peptides and proteins independently of sequence context [3].
  • PSG1, which lacks exon 1 (5'/L), but contains exons 2 (L/N), 3 (A1), 4 (A2), and 5 (B2-C), encodes five previously identified type I transcripts, PSG1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, and 1e in a L/N-A1-A2-B2-C domain arrangement [4].
  • A significant difference was found between apnoea-hypopnoea indices (AHI) recorded in PSG1, PSG2 and PSGtot (mean+/-SD, AHI1 33+/-27, AHI2 45+/-28, AHItot 40+/-25 events x h(-1), respectively; p<0.01) [2].
  • SG5 is identical to PSG3, and SG9 to PSG1d, while SG8 most probably corresponds to PSG2 [5].
  • During non-REM sleep the A + H/I on PSG 3 (29 +/- 10) was lower than it was on PSG 2 (54.3 +/- 11.3) (p = 0.004) and lower than that on PSG 1 (70.8 +/- 10.3) (p = 0.003) [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of PSG2

  • Twenty nine consecutive OSAS patients, aged 54+/-10 yrs; body mass index (BMI) 40+/-6 kg x m(-2) (mean+/-SD values), were studied by separate analyses of PSG1, PSG2 and PSGtot [2].
  • Finally, Western blot analysis using PSG2 showed that certain sperm/epididymal proteins are undersulfated in Tpst2(-/-) mice [3].
