Interestingly, we observed a strong genetic interaction between TGH and AMP1 in that tgh-1 amp1-1 double mutants are extremely dwarfed and severely affected in plant development in general and vascular development in particular when compared with the single mutants [1].
The Arabidopsis AMP1 gene encodes a putative glutamate carboxypeptidase [2].
Microarray analysis identified four mRNA species with altered expression in two alleles of amp1, including upregulation of CYP78A5, which has been shown to mark the shoot apical meristem boundary [2].
Arabidopsis amp1 mutants show pleiotropic phenotypes, including altered shoot apical meristems, increased cell proliferation, polycotyly, constitutive photomorphogenesis, early flowering time, increased levels of endogenous cytokinin, and increased cyclin cycD3 expression [2].
We found that det2, cop2, cop3, and cop4 mutants displayed a gene expression pattern similar to that of the wild type [3].

The AMP1 cDNA encodes a 706;-amino acid polypeptide with significant similarity to glutamate carboxypeptidases [2].
