High impact information on Artificial Limbs

Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems for the design and manufacture of limb prostheses have recently become commercially available [3].
A medline search was performed with the key words: "silicon liner socket, Icelandic Roll On Silicon Socket (ICEROSS), trans-tibial prosthesis, lower leg prosthesis and stump sockets". Six articles remained after application of the selection criteria [4].
SETTING: NHS artificial limb clinic [5].
Among these 23 found the PP prosthesis the preferred artificial limb, and one patient found the PP limb equal to the aluminium prosthesis previously in use [6].
At follow-up, a median of 23 months after amputation, there was a tendency for more patients to have given up using their limb prosthesis in the GSA group than either the BKA or AKA groups [7].
