Disease relevance of Lateral Medullary Syndrome

Regional cerebellar perfusion was imaged using technetium Tc 99m hexamethylpropylene amine oxime and single photon emission computed tomography (HM-PAO-SPECT) in a patient with chronic left lateral medullary syndrome with contralateral weakness due to traumatically induced thrombosis of the left vertebral artery [1].
Sensorimotor hemiparesis with secondary cervical dystonia following lateral caudal medullary infarction without signs and symptoms of Wallenberg syndrome [2].
We have recently encountered a rare case of fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) of the vertebral artery (VA) presenting as lateral medullary syndrome [3].
A case of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) manifesting Wallenberg's syndrome and fusiform aneurysm of the basilar artery is reported [4].

High impact information on Lateral Medullary Syndrome

The only complication was a mild residual Wallenberg syndrome after occlusion of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery in the treatment of a transection located at C1 [5].
