4-Chlorobiphenyl was metabolized by rat liver microsomes in the presence of NADPH to yield a major metabolite, 4'-chloro-4-biphenylol, and a number of minor metabolites [2].
4-Chloro-4'-biphenylol as an uncoupler and an inhibitor of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation [3].
Metabolism experiments with 4'-chloro-4-biphenylol showed that the selective use of ethylation and methylation is most effective in both detection and structure elucidation of metabolites partly methylated by metabolic processes [4].
