Disease relevance of TLE3

These included 72 controls (C), 659 early and suspect open angle glaucoma (ESG) with perimetric mean defect (MD) lower than 6 dB, and 242 confirmed moderate and advanced glaucomas (AG) with perimetric MD >/=6 dB [1].

High impact information on TLE3

The data presented indicate that there are: (1) different antigenic forms of the ESGp/ mLAMP-1 homologues and (2) changes in the molecular composition and expression of these forms during embryogenesis and differentiation [2].
Database searches of genomic sequences revealed an identical set of Tle paralogues being present in distantly related fish species, indicating duplicated Tle2 and Tle3 genes for the complete teleost lineage [3].
Most detailed data exist for medaka, where 3 Tle genes have been described, Tle1, Tle3, and Tle4 [3].
We also show that TLE1 and TLE2 are organized in a tandem array at chromosomal location 19p13.3, while TLE3 maps to 15q22 [4].

Biological context of TLE3

Human AES, TLE 1 and TLE 3 genes were mapped to chromosomes 19, 9 and 15, respectively, using human and Chinese hamster hybrid cell lines [6].
The human Amino Enhancer of Split (AES) gene encodes a protein of 197 amino acids exhibiting strong similarity to the N-terminal domain of Drosophila Enhancer of Split Groucho (ESG) protein [7].
