Polyclonal antibodies raised against purified Synechocystis AHAIR produced a single band on a Western blot (immunoblot) of a Synechocystis cell extract and detected the protein in an extract of an E. coli ilvC mutant strain that was transformed with a plasmid containing the Synechocystis ilvC gene [2].
Reversal of the nucleotide specificity of ketol acid reductoisomerase by site-directed mutagenesis identifies the NADPH binding site [3].
Using gene replacement and transposon Tn5 mutagenesis, an Escherichia coli ilvC panE double mutant completely lacking ketopantoate reductase activity was isolated [4].
