Disease relevance of poly(dA-dC).poly(dG-dT)

High impact information on poly(dA-dC).poly(dG-dT)

  • We used 2 recombinant plasmid DNAs, pDHf14 and pDHf2, with 60- and 23-base pair inserts of potential Z-DNA-forming (dA-dC)n.(dG-dT)n sequences, respectively, parental plasmid pDPL6 with no insert, calf thymus DNA, and several synthetic polynucleotides in this study [3].
  • In contrast, the linear polynucleotide, poly(deoxyadenylate-deoxycytidylate).poly(deoxyguanylate-deoxythymidylat e [poly(dA-dC).poly(dG-dT)] and calf thymus DNA were 1650 and 880-fold less efficient, respectively, than pDHf14 in eluting ER from DNA-cellulose [4].
  • The preferential binding of SLE sera to poly(dA-dC).poly(dG-dT) and to Z-DNA may be important in the formation of circulating immune complexes and subsequent vascular damage, or may provide a clue to the mechanism of production of anti-DNA antibodies in this disease [5].
  • Two predominantly alternating purine-pyrimidine (APP) (dA-dC)n.(dG-dT)n repeats of 58 and 178 base-pairs flank the (A + T)-rich distal regulatory region [6].
  • Blocks of potential Z-DNA-forming (dA-dC)n.(dG-dT)n sequences are ubiquitous in eukaryotic genomes [2].
