Disease relevance of PRR6

  • It contained sequences coding for the 36 amino acids at the amino terminus of the p30 of a related reticuloendotheliosis virus [Oroszlan, S., Barbacid, M., Copeland T., Aaronson, S. A. & Gilden, R. V. (1981) J. Virol. 39, 845-854] [1].
  • Rats bearing tumors containing Moloney murine sarcoma virus (RaLV) did not contain free circulating antibody to RaLV p30 [2].
  • An interspecies assay using a goat antiserum prepared after sequentially immunizing with FeLV, RD 114, and woolly monkey virus p30's and labeled RaLV p30 was inhibited by all mammalian type C viruses, although preferentially by RaLV, FeLV, and HaLV [2].
  • High levels of specific antigen were found in all cell lines producing rat virus, whereas embryonic tissues from several rat strains and cell lines considered virus-free based on other tests were negative for p30 [2].
  • In previous studies we detected retrovirus RD114 p30-related antigen in human placental syncytiotrophoblasts and antibodies in cord blood sera [3].

High impact information on PRR6

  • In comparison studies with purified R-MuLV proteins, 7 of 20 patients formed antibodies: 3/20 to R-MuLV p30 only, 1/20 to R-MuLV glycoprotein (gp) 70 only, and 3/20 to both p30 and gp70 [4].
  • Renal cell adenocarcinoma and retrovirus p30-related antigen excreted to urine [5].
  • Two proteins, termed gp60 and p30, have been purified to homogeneity from bovine leukemia virus (BLV) using controlled pore glass and reverse-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC). gp60 was shown to be a glycoprotein by identification of glucosamine on the amino acid analyzer [6].
  • The p30 sequence showed substantial homology to the transmembrane proteins of both types B and C retroviruses and also to a deduced sequence of the 3' region of the env gene of human T-cell leukemia virus [6].
  • The purified matrix proteins were immobilized onto polystyrene and the binding of p30 was quantitated using radioiodinated proteins and enzyme immunoassay (EIA) [7].

Anatomical context of PRR6

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of PRR6

  • Species and interspecies radioimmunoassays for rat type C virus p30: interviral comparisons and assay of human tumor extracts [2].
