High impact information on NEF3

Molecular mass information shows that there is one-half equivalent phosphate group on NFL and 24 on NFM [1].
Phosphorylation in bovine NFM occurs mainly in the Lys-Ser-Pro (KSP) region, but the Val-Ser-Pro and Ser-Glu-Lys motifs are also phosphorylated [1].
Twenty early postpartum dairy cows were used in the study: 13 NFM cows and 7 RFM cows [2].
There was also a higher percentage of immature neutrophils in isolated leukocyte suspensions from RFM cows (22+/-8%) than from NFM cows (15+/-4%), so that impairment of AOAH activity in early postpartum cows could be explained, in part, by immaturity of the neutrophils [2].
All three substances stimulated PGF2 alpha from the allantochorion of NFM, but not RFM, cows and stimulated PGE2 secretion from the allantochorion of both groups of cows [3].

Anatomical context of NEF3

The average AOAH activity in RFM cows (mean +/- SEM = 89+/-13 pmol fatty acid/10(7) PMN/h) was lower than in NFM cows (107+/-6 pmol fatty acid/10(7) PMN/h), but the difference in neutrophil AOAH activity between the 2 groups was not significant [2].
Tissue explants, obtained about 6 hr postpartum from cows that delivered normally (NFM, n = 10) or cows with retained fetal membranes (RFM, n = 4), were incubated for 6 hr and PGF2 alpha and PGE2 concentrations in the medium were determined by radioimmunoassay [3].
The presence of bacterial cell wall, especially of alpha-hemolytic streptococci and coagulase positive staphylococci enhanced LTB4 synthesis by allantochorion only in NFM cows [4].

Associations of NEF3 with chemical compounds

On day 0, N and NFM cows received a 6 mg implant of norgestomet [5].
Concentrations of estradiol in NFM cows were higher (P less than .05) on day 3 and declined to concentrations similar to those of the other treatments on day 9.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)[5]

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry (MS) shows molecular masses for bovine NFP subunits of 63, 105, and 125 kDa for NFL, NFM, and NFH [1].
