Disease relevance of Angioid Streaks

• Follow-up of 2 or more months was available for 147 eyes: presumed ocular histoplasmosis syndrome, 67 eyes; age-related macular degeneration, 41 eyes; myopia, 10 eyes; multifocal choroiditis, 9 eyes; idiopathic, 8 eyes; angioid streaks, 4 eyes; and miscellaneous, 8 eyes [1].
• PARTICIPANTS: Nineteen eyes of 17 patients with classic, subfoveal CNV treated with PDT using verteporfin, excluding eyes with CNV secondary to age-related macular degeneration, angioid streaks, and myopia [2].
• Although previous observations have shown that Marfan's patients with epilepsy had angioid streaks in the retina or coloboma of the iris, such ocular manifestations were absent in two patients reported here [3].

• PARTICIPANTS: Five eyes of 5 patients with angioid streaks in whom fluorescein and conventional indocyanine green (ICG) angiography clearly demonstrated distinct CNV vessels supplying the subfoveal neovascular complex [6].
• A preliminary study of photodynamic therapy using verteporfin for choroidal neovascularization in pathologic myopia, ocular histoplasmosis syndrome, angioid streaks, and idiopathic causes [7].
