Disease relevance of Nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol

A kinetic model is used to describe the effect of the nonionic surfactant Tergitol NP-10 (TNP10) on pentachlorophenol (PCP) biodegradation by Sphingomonas chlorophenolica sp. strain RA2 [1].
Abundance of calanoid copepods was reduced significantly in the mixture-treated ponds, suggesting either a direct effect of the adjuvant and/or an enhancement of herbicide toxicity by Agral 90 [2].
Fomesafen, either alone or in mixture with Agral 90, had a significant positive effect on the abundance and biovolume of Cyanobacteria, Cryptophyceae, Dinophyceae, and Bacillariophyceae [2].

High impact information on Nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol

Different initial biomass to initial substrate ratios ranging from 13 to 418 were tested with 23 TNP10 concentrations ranging from 0 to 1500 mg/L [1].
Human liver microsomes also oxidized other Tritons (X-100 and X-114), Emulgens 911 and 913, and Tergitol NP-10 to a similar extent [3].
Cultures were exposed to 20 g/L Bow River crude oil with and without 0.625 g/L Igepal CO-630 (a nonylphenol ethoxylate surfactant), 5 g/L saturates, 5 g/L aromatics, or 125 g/L refinery sludge [4].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Nonylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol

N-Acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase (GlcNAcPTase) was solubilized with 2% Tergitol NP-10 from cultured human lymphoblast cells and purified 3840-fold with 14% recovery using lentil lectin-Sepharose 4B, DEAE-Sephacel and Sephacryl S-400 chromatographies [6].
The purification sequence involves solubilizing this membrane-bound enzyme with Tergitol NP-10, affinity chromatography on Lentil lectin-Sepharose 4B, ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-Sephacel, chromatography on zinc(II)-IDA-Sepharose 6B, and preparative SDS-PAGE electrophoresis [7].
In all bioassays tested Tergitol NP-10 was fully removed, and did not have a substantial effect on BTEX biodegradation at the end of a 10-day evaluation [8].
