Disease relevance of Densovirus

This virus is identified as a new densovirus under the Densovirinae subfamily of the Parvoviridae based on its biological and morphologic properties as well as sequence homologies, and is tentatively designated A. albopictus C6/36 cell densovirus (C6/36 DNV) [1].
Similar to other densoviruses, C6/36 DNV has a different genomic organization and no recognizable sequence homology with viruses in the Parvovirinae [1].
These terminal structures, similar to those of dependoviruses, human parvovirus B19 and Bombyx mori densovirus (BmDNV), strongly suggest a common mechanism of DNA replication for these parvoviruses [2].
CONCLUSIONS: The sequence of the glycine-rich motif, which occupies each of the channels along the fivefold axes in vertebrate viruses, is conserved between mammalian and insect parvoviruses [3].
RESULTS: The Galleria mellonella densovirus (GMDNV) capsid protein consists of a core beta-barrel motif, similar to that found in many other viral capsid proteins [3].
