Disease relevance of CEACAM5

  • CEA is a low-risk procedure for significant carotid stenosis; however, females are more likely to develop restenosis after carotid surgery, especially with Dacron patches [1].
  • Adenovirus vectors encoding carcinoembryonic antigen (Ad-CEA) or costimulatory molecules CD80, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and leucocyte function-associated antigen-3 (LFA-3) (Ad-STIM) were used to transduce murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDC) [2].

High impact information on CEACAM5

  • Analysis of the kinetics of CEA binding to rabbit anti-CEA antibody insolubilized on filter paper discs provided six lines of evidence indicating diffusion control of this reaction: 1) The observed forward rate constant, k1obs, decreased when solvent viscosity was increased with sucrose or Ficoll [3].
  • METHODS: Biotinylated antibodies against alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and carcinoembryonic antigen [(CEA); 0.1 g/L each in 15 mmol/L phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.1 mL/L Tween 20] were attached to a microcolumn packed with streptavidin-coated particles [4].
  • An attempt has been made to determine relative potencies of four Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) reference preparations, including the World Health Organization CEA standard, assayed by three kits (Abbott, Cis, Roche) [5].
  • Nonetheless, CEA-specific CD8+ T-cell response was enhanced upon coinfection of Ad-STIM and Ad-CEA in both mouse strains, although this immune response was not sufficient to protect CEA-tg mice from tumour challenge [2].
  • Production of hybrids secreting bispecific antibodies recognising CEA and doxorubicin [6].

Associations of CEACAM5 with chemical compounds

  • A group of 10 experimental calves that lived for 61-147 days with a TAH was used to study serum aldosterone levels by RIA with ALDOCTK-125 CEA Kit (Sorin Biomedica, Italy) [7].

Other interactions of CEACAM5

  • Immunohistochemically, all bovine myocardial tumors stained positively for cytokeratin (8/8), and occasional masses stained positively for vimentin (3/8) or carcinoembryonic antigen (3/8) [8].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of CEACAM5

  • Relative potencies of four CEA preparations assayed by three commercial radioimmunoassay kits [5].
