The expression of the noradrenergic marker genes th and dbh is strongly reduced, as well as the transcription factors gata2 and tfap2a (Ap-2alpha) [1].
We corroborated DSP-4 specificity via immunohistochemical procedures for tyrosine hydroxylase and dopamine-beta hydroxylase, which revealed decreases in norepinephrine synthesizing nuclei and certain song control nuclei [2].
By tracking the spatiotemporal expression of TH, 5-HT, and dopamine beta hydroxylase reactivity, we determined that these fibers likely originate from neurons in the posterior tuberculum (dopamine), the raphe region (5-HT) and, possibly, the locus coeruleus (noradrenaline) [3].
We also examined the distribution of several neurotransmitter markers (tyrosine hydroxylase, neuropeptide Y, dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, and serotonin) in the olfactory bulb [4].
Antibodies to neuropeptide Y, dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, and serotonin labeled fibers in the olfactory bulb and cell bodies in caudal regions of the brain in distributions comparable to other species [4].
