Disease relevance of Vision Tests

High impact information on Vision Tests

  • Even sensitive vision tests show no measurable effect of fluorescein angiography on foveal vision function in eyes with significant disease [3].
  • The peripheral vision tests available on the Keystone View Tester and the Titmus Vision Tester were administered to 23 subjects with RP, 3 subjects with Type 2 Usher's syndrome, and 1 subject who was a partially affected carrier of X-linked recessive RP [4].
  • CONCLUSIONS: Patients with expandable hydrophilic acrylic IOLs stained with trypan blue performed significantly worse on a glare vision test than patients whose IOLs were not stained [5].
  • After 2 months of ethambutol treatment, chromatic discrimination was measured with a computerized forced two choice (CD) test with isoluminant coloured stimuli and with three other colour vision tests: the Ishihara, the Oscar and the Lanthony Desaturated 15 Hue tests [6].
  • METHODS: As part of a comprehensive analysis of over 200 members of a large Brazilian LHON pedigree spanning seven generations, colour vision tests were obtained from 91 members [7].

Associations of Vision Tests with chemical compounds

  • Glucose tolerance test, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination, sight acuity and field of vision tests were also performed [8].
  • METHODS: 30 patients (mean age 81.3 (SD 6.1) years) receiving digoxin were tested using a battery of colour vision tests (Ishihara, AO Hardy Rand Rittler plates, City tritan test, Lanthony tritan album, and the Farnsworth D15) [9].
  • Only twenty were able to go through the complete colour vision test, and among these, three patients (one without, and two with increased level of serum bilirubin) with acquired colour vision defects were observed [10].

Gene context of Vision Tests

  • No relation was found between the GEFT and the indirect vision test [11].
  • These two attributes have previously been investigated in dichromats and cerebral achromatopsic patients using a new colour vision test developed at City University that makes possible the isolation of pure chromatic signals (Barbur et al. Proc. R. Soc. London B 258, 327-334, 1994) [12].
