Chemical compound and disease context of chlormezanone

Biological context of chlormezanone

  • An open assessment of chlormezanone in the treatment of rheumatic sleep disturbances was carried out in general practice [15].
  • Biotransformation of chlormezanone, 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-4-metathiazanone-1,1-dioxide, a muscle-relaxing and tranquillizing agent: the effect of combination with aspirin on its metabolic fate in rats and mice [16].
  • One group of patients (n = 23) were treated with laser acupuncture (5 mW HeNe laser on 22 acupuncture points for 15 s each) plus cervical collar and a combination of paracetamol and chlormezanone; a second group (n = 22) received the same treatments but with the use of a placebo laser [17].

Anatomical context of chlormezanone

Associations of chlormezanone with other chemical compounds

  • A multi-centre, double-blind trial was carried out in general practice in 44 patients with symptoms of neurotic anxiety to compare the effects of treatment with either 400 mg chlormezanone at night or 5 mg diazepam 3-times daily for 4 weeks [20].
  • Chlormezanone binds to oxidized cytochrome P450 in rat liver microsomes with a binding curve according to type I like hexobarbital but less pronounced and with a general shift to the left [18].
