Disease relevance of potassium

Total body potassium was measured in 12 patients with cor pulmonale, by determination of potassium-40, a naturally occurring radioisotope [1].
Measures of body composition consisted of fat estimated from triceps, subscapsular and calf skinfolds, and fat-free body weight estimated from potassium-40 measurements [2].
