Deletion of the Ig kappa light chain intronic enhancer/matrix attachment region impairs but does not abolish V kappa J kappa rearrangement [1].
We have identified a sequence in the TCR beta 2 locus that is homologous to the kappa B site in the Ig kappa light chain enhancer [2].

We have therefore investigated whether T-depleted spleen cells from Ig kappa light chain-expressing 129/Sv mice (129 kappa +/+) could induce, in C kappa knockout mice (129 kappa -/-), the generation of Ig constant kappa light chain region (C kappa)-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) [9].
The accessibility of a chromosomally integrated TCR beta minilocus recombination substrate in a V(D)J recombinase-inducible cell line (HDR37) depends on incorporation of transcriptional enhancer elements such as the Ig kappa light chain intronic enhancer (E kappa) [10].

Lambda5 is required for rearrangement of the Ig kappa light chain gene in pro-B cell lines [13].
IFN-gamma is a potent inducer of Ig kappa light chain gene transcription in 70Z/3 pre-B cells, but the mechanism of this induction has not been elucidated [14].

In situ hybridization further localizes the gene to the 2p1 region in close proximity to the Ig kappa light chain gene [15].
