Disease relevance of ASC

  • AIMS: The present study was designed to determine the individual and combined effects of acidified sodium chlorite (ASC, 0.1%, 24 +/- 1 degrees C), cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC, 0.5%, 24 +/- 1 degrees C) and hot water (HW, 93 +/- 1 degrees C) treatments on the survival of Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus [1].

High impact information on ASC

Associations of ASC with chemical compounds

  • Specific transport components of lysine uptake were estimated to be: 63% occurring through the cationic (Y+) system, 17% via the neutral alanine (A) and alanine, serine, cysteine (ASC) amino acid transport systems, and 20% through nonsaturable processes [5].
  • The specific transport components of methionine uptake were estimated as 54% occurring through the neutral branched chain leucine (L) systems, 28% through the ASC system, 15% through the A system and 25% through nonsaturable processes [5].
  • Phase 1 tested water, SH, PAA, LA, and 0.5% CPC on meat inoculated with non-acid-habituated pathogen populations, whereas phase 2 tested water, SC, AH, ASC, LA, and 0.1% CPC on meat inoculated with acid- and non-acid-habituated populations [6].
  • Reductions from phase 2 for acid-habituated cells increased in the order NT = water = SC < ASC = LA = AH < CPC, whereas on non-acid-habituated cells the order observed was NT = water = SC < AH = ASC < LA < CPC [6].
