Disease relevance of GALT

  • The GALT-primed calves received an ID dose of live Pasteurella haemolytica A1 followed by a subcutaneous (SC) dose of killed P. haemolytica [1].
  • Following oral vaccination with BCG, the organisms were localised and persisted in GALT but did not spread to the spleen, liver or lungs [2].
  • AIMS: To determine immune responses, and the localisation and persistence of Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) in gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT) and other organs in possums vaccinated orally with lipid-formulated BCG vaccine [2].

High impact information on GALT

  • This suggests that early digestion is negatively correlated to the IgA antibody response and that the IgA response associated to the gut associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) and the systemic IgG antibody responses are independent [3].
  • The amounts of biliary antibodies generated by the parenteral injection of antigen and adjuvant were comparable to those that occurred after the same materials were injected directly into the GALT [4].
  • GALT lymphocytes were isolated and counted [5].
  • After proteinase K (PK) pretreatment, abnormal PrP was still detectable only in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) of clinically affected mice and, to a much more limited degree, in the enteric nervous system (ENS) [6].
  • In cattle with late onset MD, lesions in the oral cavity were generally milder and in the intestinal tract they were not only associated with GALT, but frequently affected the mucosa outside [7].

Anatomical context of GALT

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of GALT

  • The GALT-primed calves had increased serum IgG, lavage IgG and IgA and increased LNA titers in both lavage fluids and serum following the SC dose of killed bacteria [1].
