Gene context of Vitreous Detachment

  • Prior to tPA injection, 4 eyes had complete posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) and 9 eyes had no PVD [12].
  • Posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) is the consequence of changes in the macromolecular structure of gel vitreous that result in liquefaction, concurrent with alterations in the extracellular matrix at the vitro-retinal interface that allow the posterior vitreous cortex to detach from the internal limiting lamina of the retina [13].
  • Prevalence of posterior vitreous detachment in retinitis pigmentosa [14].
  • Dilated fundus examination revealed a total posterior vitreous detachment, despite the young age of the patient, with numerous white intragel opacities that were compatible with remnants of the vasa hyaloidea propria [15].
  • There was a significant reduction in the P50 amplitudes in the FE compared to the AMC with checks of 12', but there was no significant reduction with checks of 46'. In the FE with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) (eleven cases), the P50 amplitudes with checks of 12' were greater than in the eyes without PVD [16].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Vitreous Detachment

  • A priori explanatory variables included baseline presence of clinical and/or OCT signs suggesting macular traction, grade of diabetic maculopathy, posterior vitreous detachment, fluorescein leakage and ischaemia on angiography, presence of subretinal fluid, and peroperative indocyanine green (ICG) use [17].
  • INTERVENTION: Pars plana vitrectomy, induction of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), and gas tamponade were performed, with postoperative facedown positioning for 1 week [18].
