Disease relevance of deoC

High impact information on deoC

  • The dra operon includes the draB and draC genes, whose products exhibit homology to chaperone-usher proteins involved in the biogenesis of surface-located polymeric structures [4].
  • Twenty-three (21%) of the 110 E. coli isolates (13 resistant, 10 susceptible) satisfied criteria for extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC), i.e., exhibited >or=2 of pap (P fimbriae), sfa/foc (S/F1C fimbriae), afa/dra (Dr binding adhesins), iutA (aerobactin receptor), and kpsMT II (group 2 capsule synthesis) [5].
  • Experiments conducted with the laboratory strain E. coli K-12 EC901 carrying the recombinant plasmid pBJN406, which expresses Dr hemagglutinin, demonstrated that the dra operon is involved in polarized entry of IH11128 bacteria [6].
  • The remaining five dra-positive strains agglutinated Dr(a-) erythrocytes [7].
  • The dra gene cluster of uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli produces proteins involved in bacterial attachment to and invasion of the eukaryotic host tissues [8].

Chemical compound and disease context of deoC

Biological context of deoC

  • The results confirm the order of the gene in the controlling region to be deoPO-cytPO and the mutation, previously analysed as a deletion, appears to have deleted cytPO deoC region of the chromosome [10].
  • Mutants with genotype thyA- dra- discriminate against bromouracil to much greater extent than do mutants with genotype thyA- drm-. 2 [11].
  • This region (23351 bp) contains 25 complete open reading frames (ORFs; genes) including deoR, dra, nupC and pdp and two partial ones [12].
  • Using PCR and primers for the afaB gene, we detected dra-related operons in 17 isolates (27%) [7].
  • The expression of DraD and its role in the biogenesis of Dr fimbriae were determined by constructing mutants in the dra operon and by immunoblot and immunofluorescence experiments [13].

Other interactions of deoC

  • It relies on the detection as papillae on thy colonies of second mutations either at the dra or drm locus [14].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of deoC

  • Peptide mass fingerprints from both spots showed similar MALDI spectra and 10 of 10 tryptic fragments confirmed the identity as deoC [15].
