High impact information on Educational Status

  • DESIGN: Comprehensive evaluation of the clinical, psychosocial, and educational status of community-based patients with NIDDM, with subsequent review by local diabetes advisory councils of this status and the care those patients have received [8].
  • These findings indicate that socioeconomic status and lifestyle, as measured by level of educational achievement, are associated with HDL cholesterol concentrations in adult populations [9].
  • Our results show that type of epilepsy has an impact on stable cognitive functions, such as educational achievement [10].
  • For the COS patients, there was a significant difference between their mean full-scale WISC IQ (84.7+/-16.2) and their average standard scores for both the spelling (97.7+/-16.1, n=23, t=4.0, p=0.001) and reading decoding subtests (97.7+/-13.7, n=23, t=3.7, p=0.001) of the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement [11].
  • This study represents a third wave of evaluations that examine the long-term educational achievement and occupational rank of children with ADHD [12].

Gene context of Educational Status

  • Although educational achievement is positively related to levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) among White adults, there is an inverse association among Blacks [20].
  • MAIN RESULTS: In children, a higher parental educational status was found to have a significant positive impact on the KIDSCREEN dimensions: physical wellbeing, psychological wellbeing, moods and emotions, bullying and perceived financial resources [21].
  • After adjustment for CD4 count, both symptom number and bothersomeness varied significantly (P <0.05) by teaching status of care setting, exposure/risk group, educational achievement, sex, annual income, employment, and insurance category [22].
  • Educational achievements and employment experiences were examined using a postal questionnaire in a random sample of diabetic clinic attenders and non-diabetic control subjects aged 16-21 years, selected from 13 different centres in Great Britain. A response rate of 63% and 42% for diabetic and control subjects, respectively, was obtained [23].
  • DESIGN AND SETTING: The pilot version of the questionnaire was applied in school surveys to students from 8 to 18 years of age, as well as to their parents, together with such determinants of health status as two SES indicators, the parental educational status and the number of material goods in the family (FAS, family affluence scale) [21].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Educational Status

  • In this study, we evaluated the impact on educational achievement of four characteristics of epilepsy individually and combined: epilepsy syndrome (type of epilepsy), seizure type, the frequency of epileptiform electroencephalographic (EEG) discharges, and the effect of antiepileptic treatment [5].
