Disease relevance of Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer

  • OBJECTIVE: In anaphylactic shock (AS), the relative effects of the autacoids including histamine, prostaglandins (prost), and leukotrienes (leuk) on causing cardiovascular collapse and the extent to which receptor blocking agents and pathway inhibitors may prevent this collapse are not clear [1].
  • The authors hypothesized that propofol would be an ideal anesthetic for laparoscopic PROST because of its characteristic favorable recovery profile that includes minimal sedation and a low incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting [2].
  • PATIENT(S): Criteria for patient selection for ZIFT included at least four failures of implantation in IVF-ET cycles in which at least 3 embryos were replaced per transfer and a cause of infertility diagnosed as male, unexplained, or tubal factor with proof of one patient tube [3].

High impact information on Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer

  • Third, IRAK-1 autophosphorylates several times in the proline-, serine-, and threonine-rich ProST region between the N-terminal death domain and kinase domain [4].
  • In both PGHS isoforms the tyrosyl radical undergoes a time-dependent transition from a wide doublet to a wide singlet species; pretreatment with cyclooxygenase inhibitors results in a third type of signal, a narrow singlet [Tsai, A.-L.; Kulmacz, R. J. (2000) Prost. Lipid Med. 62, 231-254] [5].
  • METHODS: One hundred twelve women scheduled for laparoscopic PROST were randomized to receive either propofol/nitrous oxide or isoflurane/nitrous oxide for maintenance of anesthesia [2].
  • CONCLUSION(S): ZIFT can be considered as a mode of treatment for patients with repeated failure of implantation in IVF-ET and with tubal factor with proved patency of one tube [3].
  • The highest chance of pregnancy was seen in patients who never had a previous IVF, GIFT, or ZIFT (61%) [6].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer

  • For the supernumerary embryos resulting from IVF, ZIFT or GIFT, the strategy is cryopreservation for a later transfer [16].
  • Thus, pregnancy can be achieved with very low sperm counts either by treatment of the wife, IVF, GIFT or ZIFT procedures [17].
  • To investigate the effect of uterine laceration on the results of IVF/ZIFT treatment, the outcome of treatment was compared between patients who had a transuterine puncture and a control group of patients treated by IVF or ZIFT during the same period without transuterine puncture [11].
  • Using meta-analysis and theoretical assumptions, the pregnancy rate for one cycle of hMG and IUI is inferior to IVF, GIFT, or ZIFT; two cycles are comparable to IVF or ZIFT and inferior to GIFT; three cycles are superior to IVF or ZIFT and comparable to GIFT; and four cycles are theoretically superior to all techniques [9].
