Disease relevance of Fatigue

  • Two patients developed D-penicillamine side-effects - one patient after nine months (marked anorexia, lassitude) and one other patient after 19 months (thrombocytopenia) [1].
  • Twenty-two patients demonstrated mitral valve prolapse (MVP), implicating primary neurologic disturbances as potential factors in the fatigue and lassitude often associated with MVP [2].
  • As IL-1 beta and TNF experimentally induce astrogliosis, demyelination, temperature elevation, lassitude, and sleep, and results raise the possibility that these cytokines may contribute to a variety of manifestations in MS and in other disease states [3].
  • We report a relatively frequent triad of non-infectious fever, rash and fatigue or lassitude that may also be associated with pruritis, pulmonary symptoms, and eosinophilia and frequently occurs around engraftment [4].
  • Events with highest incidence density in first month and reason for stopping were: drowsiness/sedation [n = 153, incidence density (ID)1 18.9], weight gain (n = 117, ID1 8.9) and malaise/lassitude (n = 65, ID1 5.2) [5].

High impact information on Fatigue

  • As a result, colon bypass or colectomy was done for indications ranging from lassitude to epilepsy [6].
  • RESULTS: Patients with HPT had more psychic complaints (P = .03 to .007) of lassitude, fatigue, irritability, and lack of sexual and emotional interests [7].
  • Clonidine was slightly more effective in controlling sweating, hot flushes, palpitations and nausea, and doxepin was slightly more effective in relieving the craving for opiates, lassitude and depression [8].
  • The most common events reported as reasons for stopping carvedilol were "drug not effective", "dyspnea", "dizziness" and "lassitude". No events were identified as new signals (according to the ID1-ID2 statistic) of adverse events associated with carvedilol [9].
  • Most frequent reasons for stopping valsartan were not effective (847; 6.6% of total cohort), malaise/lassitude (265; 21%), and dizziness (146; 1.1%) [10].

Chemical compound and disease context of Fatigue

  • Our results indicate that patients with low levels of testosterone develop more neurotic-asthenic symptoms, such as indecision, worrying about trifles, fatigability, and lassitude during alcohol withdrawal [11].
  • It is concluded that muscle carnitine (beta-OH-gamma-(trimethyl-amino)butyric acid) is a highly-sensitive indicator of tissue AA contents; this could account for the lassitude and fatique reported to precede the emergence of frank scurvy in man [12].
  • HVA levels correlated positively with social interest and total positive scores on the Nurses Observation Scale for Inpatient Evaluation (NOSIE-30) and negatively with lassitude and slowness of movements on the Comprehensive Psychopathological Rating Scale (CPRS) [13].
  • Our results indicate that ampicillin sodium/amoxicillin trihydrate therapy is well tolerated and safe in the nonallergic child and is effective in minimizing fever and other troublesome postoperative symptoms, such as pain, lassitude, mouth odor, and poor oral intake after tonsillectomy [14].
  • When the blood glucose level was below 15 mg/dl, abnormal behaviors severer than lassitude appeared [15].

Gene context of Fatigue

  • Endobronchial challenge with A. pleuropneumniae toxins was accompanied by anorexia, increased lassitude, labored breathing, fever, and increased white blood cell counts [16].
  • The sleep-promoting activity of IFN may be related to feelings of lassitude and sleepiness that often accompany viral disease and interferon therapy [17].
  • The results of the present study are consistent with the hypothesis that there is an association between the lassitude experienced after a meal and the release of CCK [18].
  • During APR, for example caused by tissue damage or invasion of a pathogen, a group of symptoms can be observed that often include fever, lassitude, inhibition of gastric function and synthesis of acute phase proteins [19].
  • Lethal doses of enterotoxin of Clostridium welchii (perfringens) type A injected intravenously into young fowls caused immediate lassitude, with partial recovery, followed by death seven to 35 h after inoculation [20].
