Disease relevance of Institutionalization

  • At baseline, female sex, prestroke institutionalization, and a worse prestroke Rankin score were significantly more frequent in the older patients, as were coma, paralysis, swallowing problems, and urinary incontinence in the acute phase (all P values <0.001) [1].
  • Among those who reported either event, odds of institutionalization (vs. household expansion) were associated with older age, White race, cognitive and functional problems, high chronic illness burden, being married, having fewer living children, smaller household size, social isolation, and exits of nonspouse coresidents [2].

Chemical compound and disease context of Institutionalization

Biological context of Institutionalization

  • Results are discussed following two non-exclusive interpretations: (1) the successes of genomics and its institutionalization in Québec and Canada brought hype and greater social acceptance, and (2) uncritical reporting practices have emerged under pressures for expedient and consumable writing [15].

Associations of Institutionalization with chemical compounds

Gene context of Institutionalization

  • Among the 211 residents (160 women, mean age 82.2 +/- 9.29 years, and 51 men, mean age 77.1 +/- 8.9 years), 42 were hip fracture cases, with a prevalence of almost 20%, and a female/male ratio of 6/1.23 fractures preceded institutionalization; of these 19 (17 females and 2 males) occurred within the nursing homes (mean age 83.2 +/- 6.3 years) [21].
  • There were statistically significant differences between the 2 groups (MED versus GERO, respectively) at follow-up in terms of (1) institutionalization (30.0% versus 4.6%, P < .05), (2) CDR (2.3 versus 1.5, P < .005), and (3) prescription of donepezil at follow-up (45.5% versus 76.5%, P = .05) [22].
  • A contact person from each site completed and returned a questionnaire pertaining to the district's continued implementation (institutionalization) of the SHCP [23].
  • However, other factors were significant, including past year institutionalization, location within the DC MSA, and stage of homelessness [24].
  • Treatment strategies that delay the progression of motor dysfunction in HD may postpone the need for institutionalization [25].
