Disease relevance of ASRGL1

  • We studied the immunohistologic findings of skin biopsy specimens from 21 patients with poikiloderma (14 with mycosis fungoides [MF] and seven with atrophic large-plaque parapsoriasis [ALPP]) [1].
  • Because combined Leu-8/Leu-9 antigen deficiencies are uncommon in inflammatory skin diseases, our findings are consistent with the view that ALPP is an early form of MF, as had been suggested previously by results of clinicopathologic studies [1].
  • CONCLUSION: This case report adds to the list of fetal malformations found after positive maternal serum triple test screening and reports a previously undescribed mutation in the TNS-ALP gene responsible for hypophosphatasia [2].
  • Multilocus linkage analysis has suggested that the Waardenburg syndrome type 1 (WS1) locus is flanked by placental alkaline phosphatase (ALPP) and fibronectin 1 (FN1) [3].
  • ALPP testing was performed with the prolapse unreduced and then reduced using gauze packing and a vaginal speculum [4].

High impact information on ASRGL1

  • RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: In a randomized crossover design, eight subjects with NIDDM underwent three 8-week periods of therapy with diet alone, sulfonylurea, or exogenous basal insulin, with evaluation of amylin, amylin-like peptide (ALP), and glucose and C-peptide concentrations, both during fasting and after a standard breakfast [5].
  • This was associated with upregulation of ALPP and subsequent activation of the Akt signaling pathway [6].
  • It was found that silencing the expression of placental alkaline phosphatase (ALPP) that was upregulated in AR(K580R) cells resulted in significant inhibition of cell growth [6].
  • Following surgery, Ang-II administration restored RLPP and ALPP to baseline presurgical values [7].
  • ALPP was determined with and without a 7-French urodynamics catheter and the lowest value was accepted [8].

Chemical compound and disease context of ASRGL1

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of HCl duloxetine in the management of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy and its impact in urodynamic parameters such as maximal urethral closure pressure (MUCP), abdominal leak point pressure (ALPP) and retrograde leak point pressure (RLPP) [9].

Biological context of ASRGL1

Anatomical context of ASRGL1

  • Northern analysis revealed that rat ALP message was abundantly expressed in the testis but was also present in heart, brain, liver, skeletal muscle, and kidney [10].
  • The expression of native hALP was identified in HeLa cells and proved to distribute in the cellular nucleus [11].
  • Anti-rALP antibody stained the midpiece of rat and human sperm coincident with staining by MitoTracker Green FM, suggesting that ALP is associated with the mitochondria [10].
  • This supports previous observations that MUCP decreases when abdominal leak point pressure (ALPP) is low and that this might be secondary to some mechanical failure in the pressure transmission from the abdominal cavity to the urethra [12].
  • T cells were also deficient in Leu-9 antigen in most cases (MF, 11/14 [79%]; ALPP, 4/7 [57%]) [1].

Associations of ASRGL1 with chemical compounds

  • After 3 months of HCl duloxetine treatment the mean ALPP was 59.1 cm H(2)O, the mean MUCP was 67.3 cm H(2)O and the mean RLPP was 45.1 cm H(2)O [9].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of ASRGL1

  • Age and time from prostatectomy did not significantly correlate with ALPP (r = - 0.122, P = 0.58 and r = - 0.23, P = 0.29, respectively) [8].
  • Regional mapping of the human placental alkaline phosphatase gene (ALPP) to 2q37 by in situ hybridization [13].
