Disease relevance of LASS2

High impact information on LASS2

Chemical compound and disease context of LASS2

  • On retrospective viewing, an axial gadolinium-enhanced MRI revealed paraspinal extension of soft tissue at L3, which is highly suggestive of metastasis in a vertebra [10].

Biological context of LASS2

Anatomical context of LASS2

Associations of LASS2 with chemical compounds

  • Yeast two-hybrid screening and glutathione S-transferase pull-down assays showed that the LASS2 protein interacts with several membrane-associated receptors or transporters [1].
  • Binding of a monoclonal antibody to L3 in the presence of oleic acid was substantially reduced providing additional evidence for a conformational change induced by the oleic acid-lipoxygenase interaction [19].
  • Intrathecal infusion of morphine and bupivacaine through a catheter inserted at the L2-L3 level was also found to be ineffective; only a segment block was observed [20].
  • L3 possesses a 70,000 dalton glycoprotein prior to freshwater exposure and lacks the 66,000 dalton component [18].
  • The major carbohydrate-containing component of the egg envelope is L3, a layer that contains galactose residues [18].

Other interactions of LASS2

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of LASS2

  • METHODS: We designed reovirus common primers for nested RT-PCR based on the L3 gene segment [22].
  • A structural anomaly of the spine was suspected and confirmed by myelography, showing metastasis at L3 [20].
  • However, examination by PCR of the mRNA for ES62 revealed that it was found in the L1 and L3 larvae [23].
  • Whilst antibodies to the L3 surface are therefore acquired after prolonged exposure to infection (greater than 20 years), recognition patterns of L3 surface labelled antigens, measured by immunoprecipitation analysis iodinated proteins on SDS-PAGE, and of somatic L3 proteins on immunoblots, were equivalent in the two age groups [24].
  • METHODS: The 11-year follow-up evaluation of a 42-year-old woman with L3 and L4 vertebral body chordoma treated with complete removal, femoral shaft allograft replacement, fusion, and rigid metal fixation is reported [25].
