Disease relevance of TBPL1

  • As expected, TLP repressed both basal and activator-augmented transcription from the TATA-containing adenovirus major late promoter (MLP) and E1B promoter [1].
  • (Algol Stud 68, 1-25, 1993), the non-toxic type without gas vesicles fits the description of Nodularia sphaerocarpa, whereas the toxic type with gas vesicles resembles the species N. spumigena and Nodularia baltica [2].
  • Iodothyronine binding to plasma lipoproteins (Lp) and gel filtration elution patterns of cholesterol and triglycerides were evaluated in the total lipoprotein fractions (TLF) obtained from 10 healthy blood donors and 7 patients with hypothyroidism of brief duration [3].
  • Of 20 gastric carcinomas examined, 10 (50%) and 12 (60%) expressed TRF1 and TRF2 at higher levels than did non-neoplastic mucosa, respectively [4].
  • The incidences of postoperative anastomotic leak, stenosis and GER were significantly decreased by the TLF anastomosis method compared with that of conventional methods (chi(2)=6.566, P=0.038; chi(2)=10.214, P=0.006; chi(2)=21.265, P=0.000) [5].

High impact information on TBPL1

  • Here we isolate and characterize a new multiprotein complex that does not contain either TBP or a TBP-like factor but is composed of several TAF(II)s and other proteins [6].
  • It is shown that this suppression of apoptosis involves the telomeric-repeat binding factor 2 (TRF2) [7].
  • The TLF mutation elicits a complete arrest of late spermiogenesis and increased haploid cell apoptosis [8].
  • We explored in more detail the molecular function that TLF plays in the differentiation program of male germ cells [8].
  • A refined study of TLF-deficient mice reveals defective acrosome formation in early stage spermatids [8].

Biological context of TBPL1

Anatomical context of TBPL1

  • Development of oocytes after IVM (in 0, 10, 20% serum) in TLP-PVA, gonadotrophins, 11 amino acids and 200 mumol cysteamine l-1 was compared with development in controls [12].
  • Cumulus-oocyte complexes were matured in vitro for 13 h in modified Tyrode's solution (TLP-PVA); cumulus-free oocytes were then incubated in 20% oviductal fluid for 3 h, and washed and capacitated spermatozoa were added [12].
  • By means of scanning electron-microscopic investigations, thorn-like projections (TLP) were observed in the cilio-secretory epithelium of the ventral surface of the human endocervix [13].
  • ((1986) Stud. Biophys. 115, 17-22) found that dibucaine, butacaine, and tetracaine reduce the conductance of membranes containing multiple (greater than 10(6)) gramicidin channels [14].
  • The retina is expected to be very sensitive to microwave irradiation due to the polar character of the photoreceptor cells [Biochim. Biophys. Acta 1273 (1995) 217] as well as to its high water content [Stud. Biophys. 81 (1981) 39] [15].

Associations of TBPL1 with chemical compounds

  • Apollo appears preferentially localized at telomeres in a TRF2-dependent manner [16].
  • D.L. Davies's paper on 'Normal drinking in recovered alcohol addicts' was published in 1962 (Q.J. Stud. Alcohol, 23, (1962) 94) [17].
  • TLF (d < 1.210 kg/L) shown to be free of plasma T4 transport proteins (TBG, TTR, HSA) was equilibrated with 0.3 nM 125I-labeled T4, T3 or reverse T3 (rT3) and chromatographed on Sepharose CL-6B [3].
  • DMPE-PEG addition to DMPC films caused both C ( t ) decrease (depending on PEG moiety length and Mw) and change of TLF formation mechanism [18].
  • CONCLUSIONS: Results were similar to those reported by Cooper et al. with adults and Evans and Dunn (J. Stud. Alcohol 56: 186-193, 1995) with undergraduates, and support the utility of the stressor vulnerability model for understanding alcohol use among adolescents [19].

Other interactions of TBPL1

  • The mouse TLP was demonstrated to bind specifically to TFIIA with greater strength than TBP [1].
  • C. elegans TAF-1 overlaps functionally with the coactivator p300/CBP (CBP-1), and at some genes it is required along with the TBP-like protein TLF(TRF2) [20].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of TBPL1

  • Northern blot analysis demonstrated that TLP mRNAs were expressed in various mammalian tissues ubiquitously and that their distribution pattern was analogous to that of TBP [21].
  • Methods: Ten adult patients with progressive advanced solid tumors who had failed conventional chemotherapy were administered oral TLF at doses from 1.5 to 9 g/day, using a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule [22].
  • AIM: To reduce the incidence of postoperative anastomotic leak, stenosis, gastroesophageal reflux (GER) for patients with esophageal carcinoma, and to evaluate the conventional method of esophagectomy and esophagogastroplasty modified by a new three-layer-funnel-shaped (TLF) esophagogastric anastomotic suturing technique [5].
  • Significant decreases in numbers of salivary anaerobic bacterial CFUs, and NA and TLP levels were observed in the professional oral care group compared to that in the control group (p<0.01) [23].
  • Intra-AD group analysis showed that in patients with an intramural hematoma (IMH) or a dissection with a thrombosed false lumen (TLF) the IMT was higher than in patients with a classic dissection [24].
