Disease relevance of Hospitals, Maternity

High impact information on Hospitals, Maternity

  • To investigate the determinants of fetal maturation of infants born to adolescent mothers, we studied the obstetric population attended at the Maternity Hospital of Lima, Peru. From this population we selected for inclusion in this study a sample of 412 adolescent mothers ranging in age from 13 to 15 yr [6].
  • STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study of singleton births at term between 1992 and1999 in 22 Scottish maternity hospitals among primigravid women induced with prostaglandin [7].
  • SETTING: A maternity hospital in Tel Aviv that is a major tertiary care and referral center [8].
  • METHOD: A total of 441 pregnant women attending the State Maternity Hospital in Bordeaux were interviewed during the third trimester of pregnancy, then at 3 days and 6 weeks after birth [9].
  • All women were treated at the IVF Unit, Lis Maternity Hospital. Records were studied retrospectively [10].

Biological context of Hospitals, Maternity

Anatomical context of Hospitals, Maternity

Associations of Hospitals, Maternity with chemical compounds

  • SETTING: Labour Ward, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital. SUBJECTS: 230 primigravidae at terms with PROM, 115 allocated to be treated conservatively and 115 to be managed with prostaglandin treatment [18].
  • In six maternity hospital 516 mothers during labour received 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen (Entonox) continuously at 5 litres/minute through a single-end nasal catheter and intermittently by a mouthpiece for a mean duration of 3 hours 30 minutes (513 mothers) [19].
  • SETTING: John Radcliffe Maternity Hospital, Oxford, England. PARTICIPANTS: Pregnant and puerperal women who required acute or chronic antihypertensive treatment with nifedipine (n = 46) or methyldopa (n = 26), respectively [20].
  • METHODS: The study was done in the outpatient clinic of the City Maternity Hospital, Helsinki, Finland. Subdermal implants releasing the progestin ST 1435 were inserted in 30 women for 2 years of use [21].
  • SETTING--John Radcliffe Maternity Hospital. PATIENTS--25,568 Oxford District Health Authority residents who delivered at the John Radcliffe Maternity Hospital, and 6775 residents who had a termination of pregnancy, between 1 January 1981 and 31 December 1985 [22].

Gene context of Hospitals, Maternity

  • During a maternity hospital outbreak of colonization/infection due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), mothers and babies from 35 families were known to have been discharged colonized with MRSA [23].
  • METHODOLOGY: During this study, enzyme activity was measured in 53/59 (89.8%) hospital-diagnosed G6PD-deficient neonates (34 Malays, 12 Chinese, and seven other ethnic groups) born consecutively in the Kuala Lumpur Maternity Hospital. All neonates, except one, were males [24].
  • SETTING: One maternity hospital in Paris, France. PATIENT(S): Eleven consecutive mothers having delivered triplets between October 1988 and February 1990 [25].
  • We report our experiences at the IVF centre, Maternity Hospital, Kuwait of mimicking the high level of activity of a large IVF unit [26].
  • We surveyed malformations prospectively in 10,000 births, in 3 consecutive series, corresponding to 3 maternity hospital in Cubatão, under working definitions and norms taken from the ECLAMC (Latin American Collaborative Study of Congenital Malformations) [27].
