Anatomical context of Gynecology

  • A total of 129 patients who had undergone a radical hysterectomy for SCC of the uterine cervix at the Department of Gynecology of the Martin-Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg in 1991-2000 were included [21].
  • Classic pages in obstetrics and gynecology. Notes on anhaemia, principally in its connections with the puerperal state, and with functional disease of the uterus; with cases: Walter Channing. The New England Quarterly Journal of Medicine and Surgery, vol. 1, pp. 157-188, 1842-1843 [22].
  • SETTING: Second Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Athens; Euromedica IVF Unit; and Hellenic Pasteur Institute. PATIENTS: Thirty-three patients undergoing IVF-ET divided in three groups: 8 with conception, 18 with fertilized oocytes but no conception, and 7 without fertilized oocytes [23].
  • Classic pages in obstetrics and gynecology. A radiographic demonstration of the circulation through the heart in the adult and in the foetus, and the identification of the ductus arteriosus. Alfred Ernest Barclay, Sir Joseph Barcroft, Donald Henry Barron, and Kenneth James Franklin. The British Journal of Radiology, vol. 12, pp. 505-518, 1939 [24].
  • To evaluate the usefulness of autoantibody detection as a nonoperative method of diagnosing endometriosis, we tested 221 sera from 215 patients from the infertility, gynecology, and gynecologic oncology services by an indirect immunofluorescence assay using monolayer cultures of an endometrial carcinoma cell line [25].

Associations of Gynecology with chemical compounds

  • PURPOSE: A phase III trial was performed between October 1981 and June 1984 to compare the efficacy of single-agent cisplatin and single-agent carboplatin in previously untreated patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage III or IV carcinoma of the ovary following surgery [26].
  • When white cases were compared to either gynecology or community controls, relative risks were increased for long duration estrogen use and for recent use prior to diagnosis [27].
  • Neoadjuvant chemotherapy consisting of 2-3 courses of cisplatin, vincristine, and bleomycin was used in the primary treatment of 36 consecutive patients with locally advanced early-stage cervical carcinoma [International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stages Ib or IIa; tumor size, greater than or equal to 4 cm] [28].
  • The main lasers used in gynecology are CO2, neodymium-yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG), and potassium tatanyl-phosphate-doubled Nd:YAG [29].
  • Increased gentamicin dosage requirements: rapid elimination in 249 gynecology patients [30].

Gene context of Gynecology

  • PTEN-staining status was not associated with patient age, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage, myometrial invasion or histologic grade [31].
  • Univariate analysis showed that expression of p53, Bax, bulk residual disease and International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetricians (FIGO) stage were all strongly correlated with response to chemotherapy (P < 0.01) [32].
  • RESULTS: Compared with cystoadenomas and borderline tumors, the tessutal VEGF immunostaining was significantly higher in cystoadenocarcinomas, with the highest values detected in architectural International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics Grade 3 neoplasms (P2 < 0.001) [33].
  • GSTT1 and/or GSTM1 null genotypes were not significantly associated with the histologic type and grade or FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) stages of the ovarian carcinomas [34].
  • No association was detected between International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage and receptor status, but there was a somewhat lower frequency of ER positivity in poorly differentiated tumors (P = 0.07) [35].
