Disease relevance of Beconase

• In general, preschool children and infants should not be prescribed inhaled corticosteroids above 200 microg beclometasone dipropionate equivalent twice a day, or regular oral steroids, or long acting beta2-adrenoceptor agonists [26].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Beconase

• In recent times, beclometasone dipropionate has been reformulated in pressurised metered dose inhalers (pMDIs), using hydrofluoroalkanes (HFAs) as a propellant [7].
• Since the 2- to 3-fold increase in pulmonary deposition results in a 2.6- to 3-fold difference in relative efficacy for Qvar, half the dose of the reference beclometasone dipropionate formulation has been currently recommended in adult patients with asthma, a recommendation that is supported by a large number of clinical trials [7].
• Using high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), the phase transitions of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) liposomal bilayers and their interaction with the model steroid beclometasone dipropionate (BDP) were found to be dependent on the method of liposome manufacture [28].
• Treatment of vasomotor rhinitis with intranasal beclomethasone dipropionate (Becotide). Results from a double-blind cross-over study [29].
• RESULTS: Unexpectedly, we observed differences between the two aerosol formulations Sanasthmax/Becloforte and Ventolair/Qvar in both the dialysis as well as in the human reperfusion model [30].
