Disease relevance of Cystadenocarcinoma

• In tissue samples, K-ras mutations were found in 32 of 35 cases of ductal adenocarcinoma, in 5 of 7 periampullary cancers, in 1 cystadenocarcinoma, and in 3 of 5 patients with chronic pancreatitis [1].
• The radiologic findings are described in six patients with "mucin-hypersecreting" intrahepatic biliary neoplasms (biliary cystadenocarcinoma or papillary cholangiocarcinoma) [2].

• Our results suggest two possible diagnostic applications for albumin ISH: on routine sections, it could represent an important tool for distinguishing between cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma; and on fine needle biopsy specimens, it could reduce uncertainty between FNH and HA [28].
• Histologic changes induced by intraperitoneal chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil and mitomycin C in patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis from cystadenocarcinoma of the colon or appendix [29].
