Chemical compound and disease context of Cysticercosis

  • Praziquantel and albendazole have been recently described as effective drugs for treating cysticercosis of the brain [12].
  • We identified seven major glycoprotein bands that are commonly recognized by virtually all serum and/or CSF samples from patients with confirmed cysticercosis [13].
  • Five hundred patients with cysticercosis of the nervous system were evaluated by scanning that used anti-Cysticercus antibodies labeled with indium 113 [14].
  • METHODS: In this open-label, randomized, prospective follow-up study, 97 patients with new-onset seizures and a single enhancing computed tomography (CT)-detected lesion of cysticercosis were randomly divided in two groups to receive either antiepileptic monotherapy alone (n = 48) or antiepileptic monotherapy with prednisolone (n = 49) [15].
  • Effective, single-dose treatment or porcine cysticercosis with oxfendazole [16].
