Disease relevance of OTTMUSG00000007655

High impact information on OTTMUSG00000007655

  • In the accompanying paper we have shown that the accumulation of mRNA after viral induction is due to activation of transcription, rather than to reduction of turnover, and that the regulation of the alpha-interferon (IFN-alpha) gene is mediated by a segment of 5'-flanking region of not more than 700 base pairs (bp) [6].
  • The presence of human chromosome 9 in a hybrid correlated with the presence of a family of alpha interferon genes [7].
  • Interestingly, alpha-interferon treatment was found to slowly revert the abnormal motility phenotype of BCR/ABL-transformed cells towards normal [8].
  • This association did not play a role in regulating transgene expression, but PML protein was necessary for the inhibition of transgene expression with alpha interferon (IFN-alpha) [9].
  • The rapid induction of alpha interferon (IFN-alpha) and IFN-beta expression plays a critical role in the innate immune response against viral infection [10].
