  • Experiments were carried out to evaluate whether cytochrome P-450IIE1 was present in the plasma membrane fraction of livers from control rats and rats treated with 4-methylpyrazole, which induces this isozyme [20].
  • It was further determined that 4-methylpyrazole administration caused negligible changes in total hepatic catalase activity and in rates of oxidation of ethanol by isolated microsomes; rather, it acts on catalase-dependent alcohol metabolism by limiting the supply of H2O2 [21].
  • Second, activation of NDMA and NDEA were both inhibited significantly by antibodies raised against rat P450 2E1 and by P450 2E1 inhibitors such as diethyldithiocarbamate and 4-methylpyrazole in rat liver microsomes [22].
  • The 15-OH-PG-DH activity of gastric mucosa was not influenced by a specific inhibitor of alcohol dehydrogenase, 4-methylpyrazole [23].
  • 4-Methylpyrazole, a potent inhibitor of class I ADH, inhibited the 5HIAL reduction in homogenates of lung, kidney, jejunum, ileum, and colon, and caused a marked drop in 5HTOL oxidation in all tissues except stomach and spleen [24].
