Gene context of Disulone

  • Sigmoidal kinetic characteristics were observed for carbamazepine metabolism by CYP3A4 and naphthalene metabolism by CYPs 2B6, 2C8, 2C9, and 3A5 as well as dapsone metabolism by CYP2C9 [32].
  • Recent studies of the human Pneumocystis carinii dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS) gene suggest that P. carinii is developing resistance to sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and dapsone [33].
  • Drugs which are metabolised by CYP3A and are likely to be used in the treatment of patients with HIV disease include the azole antifungals, macrolide antibiotics and dapsone; therefore, protease inhibitors may interact with these drugs [34].
  • Dapsone blocked the activity of HS-LP but not MPO [35].
  • The apparent Km for the structurally related sulphone antibiotic dapsone was 5-fold lower for the slow variant NAT2 7B when compared with the wild-type NAT2 4 [36].
