Gene context of Epidemiologic Studies

  • Our large population-based genetic epidemiological study has identified a new single-nucleotide substitution (G352A) in the beta(1) gene (KCNMB1), corresponding to an E65K mutation in the protein [36].
  • If HAAs are shown to be human carcinogens in epidemiological studies, then meat cooked at high temperatures may pose an increased cancer risk because it contains both inducers of CYP1A2 and procarcinogens MeIQx, DiMeIQx, and PhIP known to be activated by this enzyme [37].
  • Human epidemiological studies support the involvement of CD14 and TLR4 in cardiovascular diseases [38].
  • Epidemiologic studies have shown an increased frequency of this tumor type in families affected by adenomatous polyposis coli [39].
  • We carried out molecular epidemiological studies of the SH gene during the 1998-1999 seasonal epidemic in New Haven, Connecticut. Strains circulating during the epidemic were related to viruses identified worldwide [40].
