Disease relevance of Electrocoagulation

• In a series of patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) who were treated with radiofrequency electrocoagulation of the gasserian ganglion and retrogasserian rootlets, either alone or with glycerol, 16 patients with TN and multiple sclerosis (TNMS) are compared with 219 patients with TN without MS [1].
• Radioimmunological measurement of serum concentrations were performed up to 3 hours post-instillation in normal bladder mucosa, cystitis, and after electrocoagulation, under different filling conditions, as well as with the use of a detergent (Tween 80) [2].

• Simplified nuclear androgen receptor assays of needle biopsy or electrocautery specimens are accurate and should prove clinically applicable [37].
