High impact information on PLF

Chemical compound and disease context of PLF

  • Second-line chemotherapy of advanced disseminated gastric cancer after cisplatin, infusional 5-fluorouracil, folinic acid (PLF): benefit dependent on progression-free interval after first-line therapy [15].
  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxicity and efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy using the PLF (cisplatin/leucovorin [folinic acid]/5-fluorouracil [FU]) regimen in these patients [16].
  • CONCLUSION: Ambulatory infusional PLF with carboplatin or cisplatin using sequentially alternating delivery of the component antineoplastic agents is feasible and active with minimal toxicity [17].
  • The majority of reviewed medical evidence suggests that interbody techniques are associated with higher fusion rates compared with PLF when applied to patients with low-back pain due to DDD limited to one or two levels [18].
  • OBJECTIVES: To document tensile transmission to the PLF and MLF when traction was applied to latissimus dorsi (LD), gluteus maximus (GM), external and internal oblique (EO, IO), and transversus abdominis (TrA) in unembalmed cadavers [19].

Biological context of PLF

  • PLF binds to the active site of human DHFR since methotrexate (MTX) competes stoichiometrically and the denatured enzyme in the presence of PLF did not exhibit fluorescent enhancement [20].
  • A fluorescein derivative of the lysine analogue of folic acid, N alpha-pteroyl-N epilson-(4'-fluoresceinthiocarbamoyl)-L-lysine (PLF), was synthesized as a probe for dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) and a membrane folate binding protein (m-FBP) [20].
  • We used two novel methods of spectral analysis of HRV: 1) the high-frequency (HF) spectral component, V(index), calculated as an average HF power from the most linear portion of HF power versus the R-R interval regression curve, and 2) the prevalent low-frequency oscillation of heart rate (PLF) [21].
  • Furthermore, the molar gestation group's low serum PLF levels remained unchanged throughout the entire follow-up period and until their beta-human chorionic gonadotrophin levels were undetectable [4].
  • Placental isoferritin (PLF) has been shown to be involved in the down-regulation of the maternal immune system during pregnancy [22].

Anatomical context of PLF

  • PLF was found on a subset of CD8 lymphocytes and appeared to block detection of the CD8 antigen by specific monoclonal antibodies [1].
  • These observations strongly suggest that transepidermal migration of leukocytes in psoriatic lesions is provoked by PLF, whose activity appears to reflect that of complement cleavage products, particularly C3a, presumably produced by complement activation in the subcorneal region of the epidermis [23].
  • We have investigated the presence of PLF in the human embryo and early fetus and its secretion into amniotic fluid (AF) and fetal blood [24].
  • The detection of the p43-PLF immunomodulator protein in macrophages at a very early stage of embryonic development and its very low concentration in fetal blood suggests that its immunoregulatory role is limited to the feto-maternal interface [24].
  • Positive p43-PLF immunostaining was found from 7 weeks gestation in proximal tubules of the primitive nephron and macrophages of the liver sinusoids, blood vessels and mesenchymal tissue [24].

Associations of PLF with chemical compounds

  • Elution of PLF by incubation with levamisole, but not by culture medium alone, led to the unblocking of the CD8 determinant on these cells [1].
  • The KD values for both H2PLF and PLF indicate that the fluorescein moiety does not significantly affect folate binding in enzyme binary complexes.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)[20]
  • Chemotherapy consisted of 1-day per week administration of intravenous cisplatin 35 mg m(-2), 6S-stereoisomer leucovorin 250 mg m(-2) and fluorouracil 500 mg m(-2) (PLF) [25].
  • CONCLUSIONS: The presented PLF protocol yields R-0 resection rates comparable to protocols like EAP (etoposide, adriamycin, platinum), but with a better safety profile allowing administration in an outpatient setting [2].
  • Venous blood was obtained from both groups for PLF determination before evacuation of the pregnancy products. beta-Human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG), 17 beta-oestradiol and progesterone were determined at surgery for the tubal pregnancy patients [22].

Regulatory relationships of PLF

Other interactions of PLF

  • Biglycan mRNA expression was strong in the PLF, moderate in the GF and weak in the RTF [28].
  • Furthermore, PLF down-regulated cell surface expression of CEA-related CD66 antigen on both these cell lines [26].
  • Periodontal-ligament (PLF) and gingival fibroblasts responded to recombinant human IL1 beta and to media conditioned by LPS-stimulated mononuclear phagocytes by secreting prostaglandin E (PGE) [29].
  • Binding of PLF to human DHFR or human placental m-FBP results in approximately a 20-fold enhancement in the magnitude of the fluorescence emission, suggesting that the ligand interacts with a hydrophobic region on these proteins [20].
  • No correlation was found between the other measured pregnancy hormones and PLF for the tubal pregnancy group [22].
